Had an amazing morning at South Borough Primary school, Kent. October 2025. Addressing 180 pupils. Reading a chapter from my book 1. Getting across the message behind my story of kindness and friendship. Engaging with them and making it fun. The children were an absolute delight. At the end I had children running up to me to ask questions. One pupil said to me “Roy, I don’t want to go to break.” This melted my heart. What a magical experience. Thank you South Borough Primary school. I will never forget the time I had with you.

Looking forward to Otford Christmas Fayre, Kent. 22.11.25. Where I will be selling signed copies of book 1. Also to create awareness in my ongoing project, children’s wellbeing.

An extremely disappointing day at Otford, Fayre. Of course the weather didn’t help. To sell book 1, for £5, signed, just weeks before Christmas and to only sell five. Didn’t even cover the cost of the pitch. The most disappointing thing was the lack of interest. Even with the weather, there were lots of families with young children. They looked and walked by. Reading books doesn’t seem to be something that’s high on their activity list. Also, I had two display boards telling my story and what I am trying to do. There was very little interest. But I must keep believing.

Book 2. Isabelle Moving On Following my submission to some literary agents I have had some welcome and constructive feedback. Firstly to consider changing it from a Chapter Book to a Middle Grade Book, which would be better suited to the age range of 8-12. The biggest impact of this would be the word count. It would have to increase from 10,000 to 30,000-40,000 words. Secondly to consider the title of the book. I fully except this advice and I am now in the process of re-modelling Book 2. The title I have change to is - NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET.

Today I have registered my interest in becoming a volunteer for the charity Winston’s Wish, having watch their piece on BBC breakfast last week. Up until then, I was not aware this charity existed. The charity supports young children and young adults for the loss of a parent. What a great idea. This is something that is very close to my heart. I lost my dad when I was eleven. Strangely enough, chapter 2 of my book 2 contains a magical fictional story based on how my loss affected me. The magic within the story though, also sends a positive message which I hope, is intended to give comfort to those who have experienced a loss at a young age. The plan, from the start of my project, through my books was highlight various traumatic and difficult subjects to create awareness on the enormous impact they can have.

Well done to Australia government for their initiative relating to social media.

When I was with South Borough Primary school back in October of last year, I set the children a project to write, in their own time, a story following on from the chapter I read out to them on that day. This was all done with the consent of the school. A few days ago I received stories from nine children. They melted my heart. They are fantastic and the amount of work they have put in is of great surprise to me. I have been back in touch with the school to arrange for how best to get their prizes to them. Magical.

I have now heard back from South Borough Primary school. And I am so excited to say that I have been invited back to present those children who wrote stories with their prizes. Which will be on the 26th Feb 2026.

I have today issued a letter, sent by recorded delivery, to inform my Publisher, Pegasus, of my intention to terminate my contract with them and stop publication of my first book. I have not taken this decision lightly but they have pushed me too far. I naively went with hybrid publisher. But never again. I am now actively seeking the interest from literary agents for publication on my second book. Pegasus behaved very badly during production and now they won’t release the sale figures of which I am due royalties. If you would like to know more at this point, then please contact through the contact link or you can email on fielderrgf@aol.com? This episode will not deter me from continuing with my project that means so much to me and at some stage I might consider remodelling ‘Isabelle and the Magic Shed’ as a prequel to the second book.

What a fantastic morning at South Borough Primary school. Giving prizes to all the children that wrote stories. Reading each one out to years 1 & 2 and seeing their faces glow was deeply rewarding.

I naively entered the literary world and signed a hybrid publishing contract with Pegasus. I am sad to say that they still continue to operate in the most appalling manner. Looking on TrustPilot, I’m not the only one who has suffered. I issued a letter, by recorded delivery, over two months ago informing them that they were in breach of contract. Last week I sent an email to back this up notifying them that they have not responded to this letter and therefor I request ending publication of Isabelle and the Magic shed, which I am entitled to do as per the contract. As well as this, and although less than five books have been sold, they still owe me royalties for my first year. It also appears that my request to stop publication is being ignored as it still remains on the selling planforms. So, perhaps I can appeal to you not to buy through the likes of Amazon etc, because I will not get a penny and it will feed their pockets. If you are keen to have a copy of my book then I do have some hard copies which I can send to you. Many thanks for your support. You can email me: fielderrgf@aol.com. I will, in due course, be documenting the whole story of my experience with Pegasus ‘here’ as well as uploading it onto TrustPilot. I am not going to give up after this most horrific experience and I am now following the traditional root with my second book, NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YEY! But of course, that’s not going to be easy to secure an offer from a traditional publisher.
Had a great time yesterday at the Faversham Literary Festival to see the delightful Dame Kelly Holmes.
A truly inspirational speaker. She has motivated me further to persevere.
